RouteGems is a route planner for rides where the stops matter — the cafés, water, shelter and shops planned into the route itself, not scattered across browser tabs.

The story

RouteGems started the way most cycling projects do — with a problem on a ride. Planning a 300 km day meant a routing site for the line, a map site for water taps, a supermarket locator for resupply, a spreadsheet for the plan, and a prayer that the campsite marked in 2019 still existed. None of it talked to each other. All of it had to be redone when the route changed.

We built RouteGems to be the one place where the route and the stops are planned together: draw or import your ride, see the cafes, water, shops and shelter within reach of your line, and export the whole plan — stops, alerts and all — straight to your head unit.

What makes it different

• Stops are first-class. Cafés, water, toilets, camping, shops and petrol stations near your route, filtered by how far you’re willing to divert — added to the route as proper course points, not a separate list.
• Built for the gaps. Longest-gap suggestions ("you have 94 km without water"), approach alerts on your head unit, multi-day projects.
• Honest exports. GPX and FIT that survive contact with real devices.
• AI when you want it (Ultra): describe what you need in plain English and Ask RouteGems plans the stops.
